If you read our first blog post about our heroes at A Max Music in Akron or have been following us for a while, then you're privvy to the LoCLE Grown Marathon that we would host every year on 88.3FM The Sting. Last year, we recorded the marathon in a private setting at The Cambridge Room at the House of Blues Cleveland and released each of the 14 interviews and performances as their own episode (peep SZN 2!).
With the success of that show, we decided to raise the stakes and make our marathon of artists a live event, open to the public to enjoy live and in-person.
We have loved going to Crobar in Cleveland ever since just about this time last year, when Mikey Silas of Apostle Jones asked us to do a live show there as part of his Open Mic Night series which is every other Tuesday at Crobar. We had the best time interviewing Corry Michaels and Dragaan, and were able to secure a quick interview with the owner, Gerad, to learn more about this new establishment and what makes it stand out from other venues in Cleveland, or anywhere for that matter. This is where things get exciting.
Up to this point, LG has been completely self-funded. Between monthly studio/ software fees, equipment, and everything we have put into furnishing our studio to make it a warm environment for our guests, it all adds up and in truth, we cannot go much longer without having some sort of funds coming in. Turns out, you do need a little bit of capital to move closer towards your dream (ew, we know).
So, we have asked 20+ artists who we have admired in the local music scene to come and not donate their money, but rather their time and talent in hopes that people will come out in droves to support these artists and make donations to support the podcast that shines a light on the music scene in the area. We will also have raffle baskets from some amazing local businesses we love, yummy food and drinks and activities to keep you entertained all night!
